NAK Design Strategies created the master plan for Lake Aquitane Park, a park in the Meadowvale community of Mississauga centred upon an existing man-made storm water facility known as Lake Aquitane. Already a popular destination for walking, cycling and urban fishing, the park’s master plan addressed issues of circulation, safety and visibility while introducing new areas of activity. A core activity area enhances views of the lake and introduces the family-oriented facilities of a multi-use court and splash pad. The addition of a boardwalk, lookout and an expanded walkway system allow for closer experiences of the lake, while playful elements throughout the site including turtle forms and flagstone pay homage to this unique waterfront experience in a residential setting.
