Purpleville is a historic Loyalist settlement with a distinct rural Ontario character near Vaughan. Surrounded by environmentally significant woodlots and wetlands, the hamlet boasts an abundance of natural beauty as well as a designated heritage building.

NAK created a vision to combine Purpleville’s rural heritage with sustainable development practices to create a community with a contemporary village identity. Environmental stewardship, connectivity, and pedestrian vitality are central to the community design, which proposes residential and commercial development on both sides of the existing main thoroughfare. To preserve and enhance the existing local character, the architectural styles and landscape palette introduced in the plan are based on modern adaptations of rural Southern Ontario influences.

NAK’s vision integrates the settlement’s heritage Post Office with a central village plaza at the core of the community, highlighting its historic significance. The intentional balance of cultural, environmental, and social dimensions brings to life a compelling vision of Purpleville as an authentic and vibrant place to live.
