NAK Design Strategies worked on the 2012 expansion and renewal of the Yorkdale Shopping Centre, a premier retail destination for the Greater Toronto Area. Associated with a major transit hub including a subway station, local buses and intercity buses, the shopping centre serves drivers, transit riders and pedestrians alike. An addition of 145,000 sq. ft. of retail space is accompanied by a nearly 70,000 sq. ft. extensive green roof, enhanced entrances and significant streetscape improvements throughout the site. The landscape design focused on softening built form and parking, modernizing the shopping centre with a contemporary feel and enhancing pedestrian access and safety.
