DESIGN INTENT
Michael Garron Hospital is an urban community teaching hospital that has served generations of families in East York and the surrounding area. The hospital is undergoing a large-scale redevelopment to replace outdated clinical care areas and to create a welcoming, safe, and efficient facility for patients, families, and staff.
A multi-disciplinary team, led by EllisDon Infrastructure Healthcare in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care and Infrastructure Ontario, is overseeing the design and implementation of the project. The landscape design focuses on creating functional, well-organized spaces that are distinct yet visually and spatially connected. Key landscape components include the Main Entrance at Coxwell Avenue, the Coxwell Gardens, the Coxwell and Sammon Street edges, and the Mental Health and Employee Terraces.
